چکیده

In this paper, stress-intensity factor solutions are presented for an embedded elliptical crack in a round bar subjected to tensile load. The factors (SIF) tabulated form and were obtained from three-dimensional finite-element analyses of configuration. provide the as function three dimensionless parameters representative size, aspect ratio flaw its relative position cross section. cover ranges that allow most internal shapes practice be considered. order validate numerical model developed, some particular cases compared with flaws different geometries available literature. Afterwards, sequential methodology fatigue growth is presented, including conditions recategorization semi-elliptical surface crack. A comparison predicted paths experimental results propagation initiated defects bars also presented. This validation shows capability proposed SIF study geometry.

Analytical Solution for Embedded Elliptical Cracks, and Finite Element Alternating Method for Elliptical Surface Cracks, Subjected to Arbitrary Loadings

Abstract-The complete solution for an embedded elliptical crack in an infinite solid and subjected to arbitrary tractions on the crack surface is rederived from Vijayakumar and Atluri’s general solution procedure. The general procedure for evaluating the necessary elliptic integrals in the generalized solution for elliptical crack is also derived in this paper. The generalized solution is emplo...

Determination The Stress Intensity Factor in The Un-Central Edge Cracks With The concentrated Load

The stress distribution on the tip of the cracks and the stress intensity factor on them are the main courses in the fracture mechanic. The stress intensity factor of the cracks with the different load exited and the different geometry are listed in the tables of the standard books. In all of them, the cracks are located in the central point of the plates. In the uniform edge loaded case, the c...

Calculating Stress Intensity Factor for Small Edge Radial Cracks on an Orthotropic Thick-walled Cylinder Subjected to Internal Pressure using the Average Stress

In this paper, the problem of calculating the stress intensity factor (SIF) for an orthotropic thick-walled cylinder with a small radial crack subject to internal pressure is considered. The crack is assumed to be an edge crack on the external radius of the cylinder. The stress intensity factor is calculated by superposition of an uncracked cylinder with uniform stress distribution and a cylind...

Stress Intensity Factor of Radial Cracks for Rotating Disks and Cylinders using Average Stress Method

This article utilizes the average stress method to obtain the stress intensity factor of rotating solid and hollow disks/cylinders containing a radial crack‎. ‎It is assumed that the cracks are located radially at center‎, ‎internal or external radius of the geometry‎. ‎Results are shown for both of the plane stress and plane strain assumptions and are validated against the known data introduce...

Improved Formula for the Stress Intensity Factor of Semi-Elliptical Surface Cracks in Welded Joints under Bending Stress

Welded joints are prone to fatigue cracking with the existence of welding defects and bending stress. Fracture mechanics is a useful approach in which the fatigue life of the welded joint can be predicted. The key challenge of such predictions using fracture mechanics is how to accurately calculate the stress intensity factor (SIF). An empirical formula for calculating the SIF of welded joints ...
